BIREL AMERICA - MRP Motorsport Develops Racing Plans For 2010 |
|
MRP Motorsport, North American Importer for Birel and Distributor for Rotax Kart Engines, is in the process of creating a new race team for all Birel/Rotax dealers to campaign in the 2010 WKA Manufacturer's Cup season as well as the popular Florida Winter Tour Rotax event weekends. The formation of the new team will include a revised title, Birel America Motorsport, as well as additional staff members to provide even stronger customer and technical support for team members.
"We have been very fortunate to have several good drivers and dealers competing as either privateers or part of a team in the WKA series, enough to have won the Constructor's championship for Birel the past two seasons," said Marc Miller, Director of Brand Development for MRP. "This is due to the hard work and passion of every Birel customer, dealer and our in-house racing program. For 2010, we feel a more unified presence, or at the very least, a more concerted effort to provide more Birel customers with improved technical support can continue to increase our success on this level. This will certainly be a team effort and include some quality staff members."
The operation will put technical and engineering support back in the hands of Chris and Tim Lobaugh while managerial duties will be performed by Mike Lee. Mike has been involved with MRP/Birel for the past 8 years, working as a mechanic for his son, Sam Lee. He has experience with Rotax as far back as 2004, enjoying success on local, regional and national events. He was the recipient of the Sportsman of the Year award at Michiana Raceway Park and has worked as Race Director and flagman for the past two seasons there. In 2009 he assisted the MRP Birel America team with numerous duties under the team tent.
"Mike's background in both karting as well as in the business world as a sales manager with Standard Motor Products brings a great approach in management and organization," said Garry Lobaugh, MRP Motorsport President. "We put a lot of faith in his abilities to assist our customers and allow our staff to do what they do best."
The new arrangement will allow team engineers, Chris & Tim Lobaugh, to have more direct contact with customers. In addition, Birel America will be providing driver coaching and data acquisition services to increase technical feedback. Driver coaching and data analysis is in growing demand and the team will incorporate expert individuals to provide these services.
Any MRP Birel / Rotax dealer may submit drivers to this program to be eligible for the Birel America program for the 2010 WKA & FWT season. Please contact Mike Lee at
